How to make a backup of Apple devices on a new windows PC (as it keeps giving a backup corrupt error)

I have about 5 Apple devices that I need to back up to a newly purchased Windows 10 PC. They were previously backed up to my prior computer but now I don't know how to make new backups on the new PC. I've installed iTunes, authorized the new PC, and attempted to make a backup of my iphone. It gave me a message that the back up is corrupted and directed me to delete it. Of course, when looking in preferences > devices, there are no backups as it's a new computer. What's the trick for being able to make backups on a new PC as it seems to be looking for old backups?

I'm guessing that iTunes can potentially provide an inconsistent error message if it has trouble writing out data to the iOS backup area. Turning off controlled folder access might help with that. If you've installed iTunes from the Microsoft Store you might want to delete it and try installing using the more traditional iTunes64Setup.exe installer.
