Same issue with Comcast (Xfinity) and Gmail not accepting PASSWORD

Having been searching for months to find how to fix the ongoing issue of Gmail not accepting my password when I try to send a message (ongoing = since early 2018 after security updates by Google). I have seen numerous "fixes" online and not one of them work (MAC imap, smtp, path prefixes, POP, etc etc etc). BELOW is first post I saw that specifically targets COMCAST. Hoping someone has found a fix. Apple is NOT responding to the repeated issue that I am experiencing and seeing many other Apple/MAC customers experience.

Is it safe to delete every application password in Keychain that ends with authentication.token?

I don't know the answer to that, sorry, but have wondered myself.

I don't see others on 10.13 with the gMail problem... I'm on 10.12 on purpose.

Any Anti Virus or cleaner Apps installed?

To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...

Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

Does it work in the new account?

Thank you for your time. It did what I could deleting the related OLD passwords in Keychain, but it still doesn't let my MAC email app use its current password; I have updated the password in my Google account under Gmail settings. I can use Gmail in my browser; yet I prefer my email program for various reasons.

My MAC no longer has Keychain Access Firstaid (I noticed this is another problem discussed on this forum). Is it safe to delete every application password in Keychain that ends with authentication.token?

I cannot reset my ports to your suggestions when I get the password rejection warning. System demands a "Path Prefix" and closes when I do not have that. I have a MAC Air 2011 (macOS High Sierra). When Google suddenly appeared as a server in my email program (after security updates in early 2018), it also made copies of all my folders. Every month, problems worsened, and now I cannot even delete or rename my folders that are under Gmail. Completely do not understand how Google can interfere with its own Gmail!

Well that was interesting - LOL :). To test, I had to use my own email address to test the MAC mail app. Then I sent test messages to myself. 2 tests are in the "new account" mail & 3 tests show up in my usual account mail. And, I now have only Google mail folders with contents on both accounts. My Gmail folders in usual account are empty! I'm done. Have a great weekend!

Open Keychain Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Keychain Menu item, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over.

You may have multiple entries.

Open Keychain Access in Utilities, enter the part after the @ sign in the search bar, hit enter

You may have multiple entries.  You cn edit them or delete them & start

The Password rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...

This Password, Username, Authentication method... is not recognized on this Port to this Server, more than one entry in Keychain for each in/out entry, or a server end problem.

If using a browser to login via WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but one of the other ones.

The receiving email ports are:

 IMAP is port 143

IMAP-SSL is port 993

POP is port 110

POP-SSL is port 995

Outgoing ports are...

SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.
