When Saving or Uploading file, mac OS seems to list by date only instead of alphabetically

Hello all,

I'm an apple user since, well, the last century! :D

I'm using a MacBook Pro 11,2 on High Sierra 10.13.6.

I've noticed the past few months that whenever I'm prompted in safari to upload a file, or in any app to save a file, the save requester has changed:

Instead of showing my file structure as Name | Date | Size | Kind like it has since, I dunno Time Immemorial, it now shows as Previous 30 days | Date | Size | Kind.

Like all things apple, it just starts doing this for no reason.

While I can see the utility of this, I do not see it as a solution to REPLACE the Name column .

There appears to be no way for me to alphabetically sort a column like I've done for over a quarter of a century.

This makes searching for the file or name that I want very confusing. I don't see a way that I can sort by name, regardless of kind, date, etc.

Did something change in a preference?

How do I return to how Finder works as just an open window, i.e. Name | Date | Size | Kind

Signed: very frustrated! Thx!

Sounds like you have it arranged by date instead of sorted by date.

The arrangement button sets an arrangement or grouping on a regular press. Opt-click gives you sort options.

Set Arrangement to None, and Sort to what you want.

It also sounds like you are in another of the views and you want List view.
