iPhone 7 - front facing camera not working

The front facing camera on my iPhone 7 stopped working shortly after I updated to iOS 12.1.2.

The normal camera works fine, but the forward facing camera just shows a black screen. I have tried using the camera app, Snapchat, Whatsapp, Skype and any other app that uses the front facing camera, but all show the black screen. I have also tried turning the phone on and off again.

I have not dropped the phone and there is no damage to the screen. Any ideas?
