Connecting Dell 4k
I have a Mac Pro 2012 with ATI Radeon HD 5770 1GB Graphics Video Card. I got a Dell S2817Q 4K monitor. Connection through HDMI is not working. Monitor says no signal from host. Do need an adapter or what’s going on?

You need to use a DisplayPort cable to correctly support 4K. Make sure it's a DisplayPort cable. Thunderbolt cables have the same small connecter, but they are NOT the same.
check on the Dell setting if HDMI is selected also.
Do you have a Thunderbolt cable because this monitor also has a Mini DisplayPort input. Also try checking the HDMI cable or try hooking the monitor to another computer or check the HDMI port on the computer. Also try switching the HDMI inputs on the monitor or check the input settings
The mini display to HDMI worked. However the size of text and icons are very small.
That's a kludge way to run the signal. Use DisplayPort to DisplayPort.
It should. With a correct DisplayPort connection, you should be able to choose a resolution lower than 4K, which will result in larger menus.
The Mac OS has never supported an active desktop (or, resolution independent) as Windows does. The only way to control the size of GUI menus is to change the resolution. Using a full 4K resolution will result in teeny-tiny menus.
I'll try that
Maybe that’ll help the size of icons and everything else.
