3.5mm Jack Lightning Connector Adapter

My lightning connector adapter on my iPhone 7plus fails minutes after I connect my 3.5mm jack.

It returns a “this accessory is not compatible with this device”.

What’s happening, please?

No Lightning to 3.5mm Jack with my purchase I never knew until speaking to another iPhone user that I was suppose to get an adapter in my box. Is there anything that can be done now?

iPhone 12 Pro Max: Wired-Headphone Adaptor No Longer Supported I just plugged in my Lightning wired-headphone adaptor into my iPhone 12 Pro Max, running iOS 16.4, and it responded, ”accessory not supported by this device.” Did something recently change in that regard, possibly related to 16.4? There is another possibility: I was earlier having some issues with the lightning connector (contamination), but they seem to be rectified now.
