magic mouse and keyboard keep disconnecting from bluetooth

After updating to Mojave m y magic mouse and keyboard keep disconnecting at random intervals from the bluetooth.

I tried resetting the bluetooth from it's Debug menu and still getting disconnected.

Also tried deleting and keyboard preferences from Finder->library->preferences and still getting disconnected.

This is really frustrating to have to keep and extra off-brand mouse just to reconnect the mouse/keyboard on a 4k+ $ machine.

Hi - I also had this problem and "solved it" by deleting the Android File Transfer application. The Apple Support folks were unable to solve this, and the Apple Store gave me a second, brand new iMac within a week of getting the first one. Of course, the problem remained until I discovered this thread :-) (Discussions with Senior Apple Techs included learning that they do not access Community threads. They rely solely on what is listed in their internal information channels.)

Question: Is there an application equivalent to Android File Transfer that can be used without the Bluetooth problem? I need some way to get to my DAP (digital audio player) to add/delete music files. Thanks!!!

While on Chat, a tech decided to call me. After reviewing my case, she felt that when I first booted my Mac up (brand new) and went thru Setup, I must have done something wrong. Indeed, the Setup confused me. She told me there was only one thing left to do: Shut Down completely. Hold down Option-Command-R, and Restart (keys held down). This reinstalls the entire OS again from the net. You're on the right path when you see a little globe spinning above the progress bar. I told the tech I'd call her back when it was done downloading. It downloaded finally and I was ready for Setup again. Then my power went out! I was bummed thinking I would have to do the command mentioned above again to do the OS install.

Folks, I have no clue what has just transpired, but upon the power coming back on, I decided to reboot the Mac, just to see what state it was in, LOL. I was expecting the mouse/keyboard disconnects again. As far as I was concerned the OS never reinstalled, because I never got through setup with the tech. Anyway, I've been typing this long-winded post and not once has my wireless keyboard/mouse disconnected. Obviously, the OS reinstalled again because it's asking for names and passwords wherever needed (a number of these I had already set and "remembered me"). So basically, my computer is fine now. Working smoothly....no keyboard/mouse disconnects at all. I feel this was an act of God.

So, my advice if you are having this problem: There is the possibility that you, like I, screwed something up during initial Setup. So before you go pulling your hair out, reinstall the OS from the procedure I described above and go from there. So far, so good. Wish me luck!

I've found a solution to my problem. I thought back and realised that I had begun to have problems with both keyboard and mouse when i changed the batteries. The batteries I changed to were a cheaper brand. They were still new, but I figured I'd try changing back to a trusted big-name brand to see if that would fix it. And voila! My issue was resolved. It seems that Macs don't like cheap batteries.

It's nineteen days now, using Mojave and have not been disconnected once since deleting Android File Transfer. I also emptied from it trash to get rid of it completely and so far so good.

Must say also that Android File Transfer was not working very well before it was deleted so I am not sorry to see it go but if I need it will download again and then delete after use.

SOLUTION - Same thing happening to me on Mojave. I've found a temporary work-around and that was to connect my Magic Keyboard via USB cable to the MacBook Pro. It works flawlessly now and my mouse seems to have stopped 'glitching' on me too once this was done. Maybe both bluetooth signals (to mouse and keyboard) are conflicting??

Generally very disappointed with Apples deteriorating standards

So I connect the keyboard and mouse via usb, turn them off (the display shows a notification says that keyboard/mouse is off), and then turn them on again....

Make a cup of coffee and wait for the display to show a notification saying that keyboard/mouse connected.

It takes sometimes (around 3-5 minutes) to get them connected again.

Sure it happened before in sierra, but not EVERYTIME after sleep like in mojave. And my imac is running very veerrryyyyyyy fcukin seelloooooooooowwwww wwwww

Same problem with magic keybord disconnects - and now not even reconnecting. This started when I installed Catavista

So after some time I was not sure anymore if the problem was with the keyboard. Tried to pair the Magic Keyboard with my Surface4 and sure enough it connected immediatedly and works without a problem ...

Looked a bit deeper into some of errors messages that pollutes underneath and found a couple of things:

THIS comes from another user session then mine - but Bliss seems to trigger a keyboard access error (tried closing the other user session - while this error stopped - the next one did not):

IOHIDLibUserClient:0x10000134d Bliss-1-1-6-Mac_ is not entitled for IOHIDLibUserClient keyboard access
