How to remove full name from unlock screen?

Whenever I wake my Macbook from sleep, it displays my full name on the unlock password screen. Can this be removed? I would prefer that everyone around me not be able to see my name when I open my Mac in a public place.

Here are some instructions from Apple how to change your name showing!

I tested it on High Sierra, but do not have Mojave to test

Change the full name of a user account

A user's full name can be changed by that user or an administrator

account. The full name doesn't need to be the same as the account name

or home folder name.

macOS Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite

  1. Choose Apple menu () > System Preferences, then click Users & Groups.
  2. Click , then enter an administrator name and password.
  3. From the list of users, Control-click or right-click the user that
  4. you want to rename. Choose Advanced Options from the shortcut menu.
  5. Change the name in the “Full name” field, then click OK.

That name is the (your) name you used when you first set up your machine. It is what is on record with Apple and your account. I do not know if that can be changed as it is your name and your account as it is automatically logged.

You can, however, set it up not to demand a password when you log in or display users. You can change your options in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Options (after you click the lock and input your password).

I already have this login screen. The issue is the lock screen. It shows my login icon, then my full name in a large font, and then in a smaller font it shows "Touch ID or enter password." Near the bottom of the screen, in a small font, it shows the "Lock screen message" I entered in the Security menu.

I do not want my full name displayed on the lock screen. Before the Mojave update it wasn't quite as bad, but now it shows up in a large obvious font whenever I open my sleeping laptop in a public place.

Thanks, Ruskes. Your latest screenshot shows the issue exactly. I do not want to change that name to something else, I just don't want it shown on the lock screen at all. I know there's an option not to show it on the main login screen, and am hoping a similar option exists not to show it on the lock screen. It can be a security issue in certain environments. If there is really no option to change the lock screen to remove it, perhaps it's something to bring to Apple's attention.

As I said, before Mojave it was shown but in a small, discreet font. Now it is much bigger and obvious from a long distance away.
