GarageBand sees Presonus firewire Firebox but no signal.

High Sierra, on either i7 mini or MacBook-Pro. I'm trying to input audio into GarageBand through a Presonus Firebox.

Summary

SystemSettings->Sound sees the device and a live signal selected as input,

MIDI seems to be configured OK.

GarageBand menu sees the device (Presonus FIREBOX 1911) and I select it as input. .

BUT: **** nothing records from the input and no signal on the graph.

AND: ***Quicktime with the same setup works, and does record the signal. Audacity behaves the same as GarageBand.

I know, this thread has been dormant for years, but hope springs eternal.

Setup:

Tapedeck-lineout -> (rca) ->Firebox AD converter -> (firewire) -> Mac

Thanks! I am using OS X10.13 and 10.12 on my two test boxes, not Mojave/10.14, but you gave me the key with the select "Input 2" hint. I tried using other inputs and if I use the bonded( ?, that union Venn symbol) Channels 3 and 4, it worked!

I think this is a problem with what channels the ancient and no longer supported Presonus device and drivers present to applications.

To summarize,

* SystemPreferences->Sound sees a live signal from Presonus device.

* Quicktime just works, but has few features

* GarageBand saw the Presonus device but no signal seemed to get to the App. I finally got it to work by having it join Channels 3 and 4, and then choosing them. Only at that point did it see the signal, and that took a while.

* Audacity sees the device but no signal. I can't find how to get Audacity to use specific Channels. It might be that the Apple Midi app will join those channels, but I haven't figured that out.

This is solved to my satisfaction, and thanks again HangTime.

that does indeed all look correct, is there any change if you select Input 2 instead of 1?

apologies for what is likely to be a dumb question, but are you positive about the OS version? it's definitely 10.13.x (High Sierra) and not possibly been upgraded to 10.14.x (Mojave)?
