Creating a ringtone in iTunes

I created a ringtone in iTunes. I can't get it on to my iphone. Syncing it up does not work. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you for the link to that guide. It was a good read and I learned a thing or two. I did finally get the ringtone onto my phone. It took me a few tries but I managed. Thanks again.
