This is extremely obnoxious when working with an IR camera.
I have tried disabling faceID and attenion features and the IR flood basically strobes the entire time my phone is unlocked, has anyone figured out how to turn off?

Try pressing both the side and either volume buttons simultaneously for two seconds to bring up the Power Off/Medical ID/Emergency Call screen, and don't pick anything.
When the screen times out, it will require you to enter your passcode to unlock your phone for further use and as such may not activate the illuminators for the FaceID camera.
If you purchased the iPhone within the past 14 days return it, get your money back and purchase an iPhone 7.
I don't believe their is anyway to turn it off and you are the first person I have seen with this type of complaint/need. You can suggest Apple add that feature by going here: Feedback - iPhone - Apple
So the IR dot projector fires to scan face to unlock phone. Once unlocked either the dot projector keeps firing, or the IR flood keeps cycling. It looks like on the left side of the notch. It’s bright enough that it lights up a small room if you’re using an IR camera.

Tried that. Nothing seems to disable the IR. I’ve seen the disable the FaceID in a pinch tried that and still no luck. I’d upload video, but seems I can only upload a photo and that’s not helpful.

Except in a complete dark room it lights it up like a beacon. Reminds me of the military IR strobes.
