Time Machine problem

After copying my original Time machine drive to a new Time Machine drive I cannot use the original one like before with the dates on the right hand side of the screen. I'm using an MBPro mid 2009 with Mavericks OS

Time Machine - Dates older than 2018 error Hello, I have problem with Time Machines dates older than 2018. My time line has dates from now (2021) to 2016. And everything work perfect for me only to 2018 year (include 01.01.2018). But any older dates (include 31.12.2017) don't work. They are there on the time line but clicking on them just does nothing. As I know Time Machine automaticaly removes older dates if there is lack of space on Time Machine drive. I think it's not my case, but I am not sure. So it's possible. Time Machine options are greyed out I keep regular time machine back ups and I accidentally deleted a bunch of files I need, so I opened the Time Machine to try to ”go back in time“ BUT ALL THE OPTIONS ARE GRAYED OUT! So I come to the forum and look through all these messages and everybody saying “Duh, you need to hold command plus R and restore from time machine that way“ OK, if that’s the case, why doesn’t it tell me that when I launch Time Machine? What’s the point of even being able to launch Time Machine while logged in?!?!? So anyway, I do all that and go through the process of selecting the date I want to restore from, only for my Mac to tell me “You must use migration assistant to transfer data from this backup“. OH REALLY NOW? OK now I’m getting annoyed… FIRST OF ALL: I’m not trying to “transfer data from this back up“ I’m trying to GO BACK IN TIME. In other words, I want to undo the last day of changes that I made. Which is what I THOUGHT Time Machine did (at least that’s what they advertise it to do.) I’m not interested in dragging and dropping individual files, I want to restore it to a previous state in the past. Am I in the wrong place? How in the world do I do this?

Can you open the backup using the Time Machine application? It opens, but the display isn't normal? If you can open the backup with Time Machine, Would you make a screen shot so people can see what you are seeing? Make sure you cover any personal information using Preview. Post the screen shot in a Reply by clicking the button below.
