After Mojave Uprade I can't drag and drop Calendar events to desktop

I've just Upgraded to macOS Mojave Version 10.14.2 on my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014). Up until now I have made daily use of something I discovered by accident and that is to drag and drop Calendar event names on to the desktop as reminders. I also edited them to remove the .ics file extension and added a coloured tag. They would be moved to the Bin after the event. After the Mojave Upgrade this drag and drop doesn't work anymore which is seriously annoying as I found it a great way to keep track of my daily conferences and meetings. Has anyone else noticed this?

I can drag events to the desktop in Mojave. Not sure whether they move after the event.
