copy pdf from Mac to iPad

Why isn't iBooks (on my iPad Pro) on the list for file sharing? An update just now wiped all 100+ pdf files off my iPad. They're on my iMac. But with older versions of iTunes, you could just drag & drop the pdf from Finder into the books folder in iTunes Library . Now when synching, I can't see Books in iTunes and can't see any books in the connected iAd, other than the few I had left.

iBooks recently became Apple Books, and syncing is now handled by the Books app itself rather than iTunes.

If you drag your PDFs onto the Books app dock icon on your iMac, they should sync to the Books app on all your other devices.
