When I downloaded the newest update my computer restarted to install the update and hits the apple logo and loading bar; once the loading bar completes its freezes and refuses to go past this point. (Left it to load for 3-4 hours) I’ve tried hard reset, resetting ram, boot drive reset/repair. Nothing seems to work.
My my MacBook is running 8Gb ram, 250gb SSD, 500Gb HDD, and an i5 intel processor. Not sure what the issue is here.

I would try to shut it down. Boot up and see if that works. If not, try internet recovery to erase and start over or restore from your backup.
When I tried to update mine, it became unresponsive for 2 days - would not boot or see my externals. I was finally able to boot from my external clone which it refused to recognize at first and cloned back Sierra after booting into internet recovery to erase the drive - which is where it will stay.
Do a hard restart (holding the power button for an extended amount—this will force a shutdown)
Reboot the computer and see where it leaves you.
Left it in the loading screen over night. Still frozen on the loading screen.
