Strange behavior on Synchronized Clips

FCPX 10.4.4

MacOS 10.14.2

See Screenshot of problem

When I synchronize audio and video into new clips and edit into the Timeline, some of the clips have no thumbnail they just appear black, and when I play the media, the video also is black in the Viewer. Double-clicking the media, I see that syncing placed a gap clip before the video since sound was speeding before cameras were rolling. Is this a bug in the app?

Thanks Tom, that does resolve it! Odd though, that if I had wanted the entire piece of media down on the timeline that the Gap media would cover over the entire thumbnail in the Timeline and also cover over the video in the Viewer. Seems like a bug. Nevertheless, if I trim in browser before appending then I guess I'll never see this happen again....I hope. :)
