GPU Nvidia drivers for Mojave

Use your backup to revert to High Sierra until this gets sorted out.

I suggest you contact Apple directly, as many of us in similar positions are doing. I commented on this here but there are dozens more agony stories like yours in these forums, as a result of Apple blocking NVIDIA drivers for their metal capable GPU's. It's basically a choice between disposing of your NVIDIA metal based card and getting a Radeon, or quitting the Apple platform altogether and opting for Windows, which will run all cards.

Honestly, there are now over half a million ( 500,000 ) views on the Nvidia sight with Apple users looking for this same Mojave Cuda driver update. We're all stuck in the cold by this. I am using a MBP that came with an Nvidia GPU internally and it wont work properly after the Mojave update same as everyone else. I wouldn't have updated had I known but foolish me I wanted to keep security current and Apple wont update just security like windows does, you have to update the whole OSX which I did.

The good news is I do have first hand knowledge that both Apple and Nvidia are currently working to remedy this situation asap for Mojave. Why it's taking so long I'm not privy to but I was told that both parties want this solved. There is so much more to this story with Metal2 only support after Mojave and Apples planned exclusion of openGL / CL and Cuda acceleration. Basically this means no high end graphic programs will be able to run on a Mac in the future. This is very worrisome indeed.

Its this simple really, Apple is required to support hardware they sell us users so I believe it is coming soon.

The SysInfo you posted doesn't say Metal Capable, probably because of the absence of NVIDIA web drivers. If you look at the same page when booted under High Sierra, you'll see Metal and a version number, as there ARE NVIDIA web drivers right up to the latest version release of HS.

Besides the "offically" released drivers for NVIDIA cards from apple (there aren't currently any), NVIDIA inofficially supports (better said had been supported) the Mac community by providing signed drivers for new cards like Keppler or Pascal distributed by NVIDIA themselves (called WEBDRIVERS).

These drivers must be signed to be installable on the operating system. For each major/minor/patch release of Mac OS a newly signed driver (even if nothing else has been changed) must been provided by NVIDIA, which they do for up to High Sierra but can't for Mojave due to missing release of the driver by Apple.

Now you should understand what this Webdriver is about.

You could downgrade to High Sierra.

It is not only about the legacy Nvidia cards, but the higher grade cards (Pascal, Volta, etc.) which are "normally" supported by nVidia with a so called "WebDriver" which has not been signed for Mojave by Apple at this time.

Five months later, it appears not. Word is there is bad blood between the two companies,. Moreover, Apple refuses to approve NVIDIA drivers - according to two announcements on the NVIDIA site. If it's gotten that bad, then NVIDIA have nothing to lose by simply releasing the Mojave drivers anyway.

In fact they (Apple) do block a solution: Several sources indicating this (i.e. //appleinsider.com/.../video-nvidia-support-was-abandoned-...)

I have been forced to replace my NVIDIA card. Cost me over £400. Thanks, but no thanks, Apple and NVIDIA. What a pointless spat.

Rebel, if you can post something from Apple that they are indeed working to remedy this please let us know. The forums are very finicky about crystal balls but if they could come to an agreement that would be exciting.

It is already April and I would like to get some new information about the CUDA problematics with Mojave. I tried to downgrade to High Sierra, but had a problem with this, so I´m stuck in Mojave nearly like Neo (Matrix) in the train station.

So if someone has a new information about this, I would be glad to see (this white rabbit)

FWIW, there has been much conjecture online about the situation with Apple and NVIDIA but it's just that. The CUDA drivers definitely don't work with Mojave if that's what you are using.

Each time I boot-up my iMac I get a notice that must update the driver for my NVIDIA CUDA video card (GTX775M). How do I do that? Where do I get the driver update?
