Launchpad display?

How does Launchpad choose the order in which it displays the icons of applications? In my computer, the first row of icons is some of the applications that I use constantly. But the next row of my constantly-used applications does not appear until the second row on the second page in Launchpad. In between are numerous applications that I use far less often. I do not discern any pattern in the display of the icons.

I would prefer to have Launchpad display my most frequently used applications up front and sort the lesser-used ones to farther down in the display. Is that possible?
