"Contacts" failed to import my contacts

Hello,

I had made an export file of my Address Book contacts on Lion and wanted to import them on High Sierra along with contact pictures etc. It went well on Mavericks however on HS it just sticks to the same set of people and organizations synched with my iCloud accounts and rejects complete contacts. After doing the import it never displays any notification or a message to indicate an error or failure.
