Garageband crashing when I try to open a new project

Hello, I'm having an issue where Garageband is crashing, without fail, every time I try to open a new project. I can open Garageband just fine, and it has no problem loading my most recent project. In fact, it doesn't even have issues with opening my old projects. But, if I try clicking "File-New..." and then try to open an Empty Project on the "Choose a Project" prompt window, Garageband immediately crashes, and an error window pops up a few seconds later, with this information:

The information goes on for many, many more pages, but I don't know how to include all of that here.

Anyway, I opened Console to try to isolate the processes happening at the moment of a typical crash. And a few things caught my eye.

The first error that pops up is from the Garageband process itself. Here it is:

Then, about a half second later, several errors start appearing from the process "coreaudiod." These error then start looping, as you can see here:

...At which point, I'm guessing the actual Garageband crash occurs.

I can't think of any reason why this would suddenly start happening. Nothing has really changed with my setup since this crash began happening a few weeks ago? At least none that I can think of.

I have already tried restarting and uninstalling and reinstalling Garageband. But that didn't fix it. I also have more than 20GB free on my hard drive, in case that would affect anything. I'm working on a 2014 Macbook Pro Retina, so my battery is in really rough shape as you can imagine, and I leave it on the charger pretty much 24/7 because it only lasts like 10 minutes at a time. Again, just mentioning that in case that tells you anything useful.

I'd be super grateful if anyone has any ideas on why this crash is happening, and how I might be able to fix it? Thank you so much in advance.

Have you already tested, if the crashes are also occurring, when you boot the Mac in Safe Mode? If this problem does not happen in Safe Mode, you have probably third party software or older software installed, that is incompatible.

Another test you may want to try is starting GarageBand from a different user account. This will tell you, if preferences files in your own user account are causing problems, see: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac - Apple Support

Hi! I just tried what you suggested, with seeing if it worked in a different user account. It does! So you're right that it's definitely a problem with my preferences or plug-ins. Do you know how I could view what plug-ins I currently have for Garageband? The only big one I can think of is that about a month ago I started using a Nektar GX49 MIDI keyboard, and downloaded the drivers from their website in order to use it. However, I'm pretty sure the crashing didn't start till a couple weeks after that, but it's definitely possible there's a connection. The drivers from their website appear to be up-to-date with the latest Mac OS, and I just redownloaded and installed them to be sure, so it would be weird if that was the problem, but it does fit the timeline.

But anyway, yeah, do you know any way I could view my currently installed plug-ins/drivers/anything that would be causing this? Thank you so much by the way!
