The circle keeps spinning on carplay "available cars" - how can I stop this?

I have been trying to connect my music to my car and I tried to do carplay and clicked on available cars. Nothing happened it just kept spinning. Ths has been going on for a few days now. I have the iphone xs max. On another note, my daughter has the same phone and her music connected right away using the usb - it did not work for my phone.

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding that a spinning circle displays on your iPhone XS Max when trying to use CarPlay.
