Seems it knows there's a Camera connected!?

To turn on camera on Mac for Facetime when it doesn’t automatically activate, you need to open Terminal from Applications > Utilities. Click inside the terminal window and type “sudo killall VDCAssistant” without the quotation marks. Hit Enter on your keyboard. You may be prompted for your admin password. If everything goes right, you won’t see any confirmation message. If an error occurs, you will see an error message in the terminal window. Finally, open any app that uses the camera, such as Photo Booth, to confirm that the fix worked.

Thanks for your help, just wanted to let you know, I tried everything, no luck. Visited the Apple Store in Burlingame, CA and their conclusion is to replace the display. Hardware tests showed no problems and when booting from their server OS, old and new systems, the camera still had no picture/video. Since the computer is still within the return period, that's what I'll be doing, erasing and returning it. Thanks again for helping me try to fix it.

Camera shows up in system report just fine. Tried SMC reset and PRAM reset (3 times). Still nothing. I tried Apple Hardware test and it found no problems. Heres a picture of what I see after launching FaceTime.

I will add this MacBook pro was bought used, came with Sierra, I updated to Mojave, but didn't try the camera until after the update.

FaceTime screen is black, error message says "FaceTime has not received any video from the connected camera. Restarting your computer may fix this issue." Restarting didn't help.
