MacBook Air - A1466 - Stuck in recovery mode

Hi All,

After a water accident, I dried up my macbook air for 48 hours, i was able to turn it on and got the login prompts. Once I enter the credentials the progress bar would go all the way and get stuck forever. I tried resetting SMC, NVRAM, PRAM resets, and recovery mode & internet recovery, but nothing worked. I also ran the diagnostics and it said everything was working fine. I am also trying to connect this macbook air in target disk mode to another macbook pro, but I am unable to see the macbook air in macbook pro and vice-versa. Any other Ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Sai

Theres a possibility that something was broken when it got wet. From what your describing, it sounds like you may have somehow damaged the SSD. However, the diagnostics output is a little confusing. I would expect that diagnostics would detect a fault drive. I would recommend booting into recovery mode, open the command prompt (terminal) utility, then seeing if you can access your files from there.

If you're unfamiliar with Terminal, here are the super-super shortened basics of it.

Typing:

cd /path/to/somewhere/

will take you to the path you type in in place of '/path/to/somewhere/'. For example, 'cd /Users/admin/Desktop/' will navigate to the user named 'admin's desktop folder.

Typing:

ls

will display the files and folders in the current folder.

If you can't get into Recovery Mode, you can get super technical, and hold Command + V while your computer is turning on (similarly to how you'd boot into Recovery Mode by holding Command + R). This will boot up in 'verbose' mode (showing you any possible errors), then, when it's finished, function as a normal Terminal.

Note: If you have FileVault enabled, it may ask you to sign in first, before going into Verbose mode.

Thanks Ruskes, I do have another user as well. But I am unable to get to the single user mode with recovery mode restart, I am still waiting for the system to start up completely in verbose mode. I would try the fsck -fy once I get to the terminal window if it shows up. Currently It's at this error
