Parental Controls and Google Chrome

I tried to create user accounts for my kids today on a MacBook air. One of them needed Chrome for a school App. I found it very difficult to limit the websites Chrome could access because it sent me over 25 additional websites (and more were continuing to come!) that I also needed to allow, perhaps just to allow Chrome to run. I understand from the person I spoke to at Apple that Chrome is very interactive with the internet. Can anyone else confirm this issue? I wish the teacher of my 1st grader would've given us a different App that could run off of another browser.

Take your question to your school administrator. You may need to contact an attorney.

In my opinion Google Chrome is unacceptable for the reasons you state, among many others. A child should not be compelled to have his or her personal information harvested and kept, and a first grade student is too young to appreciate those implications. Depending on the nature of the Internet services that he or she is required to use, what you describe may even be illegal under US federal or state laws.
