iPad signin verification fails continuously

My daughter changed the time on my iPad which apparently made a security key invalid. I changed the time back to "automatically determine" time, but now I can't signin to iCloud with my valid username and password from my iPad. I changed the password at iCloud from the web, and can signin to iCloud from the web and from my iPhone. But I still can't signin to iCloud from my iPad. I get "Apple ID Sign In Requested", I enter valid username and password, it churns for awhile and then I get "Verification Failed There was an error connecting to the Apple ID server".
