Read Mail keeps marking as unread

So I’ve been having this problem for a while now. My mail, on my iPhone ONLY, keeps saying that I have unread mail. I constantly check my email and I’m always getting rid of unnecessary emails and sort out my mail(as I am a student) and once I leave the app, it shows that I have unread mail. It’s not my network because I connect to WiFi and it still is the same problem. Yet, if I use my MacBook, I can easily mark my mail as read with no problems. I would like to mark my mail read on my phone as I find myself waiting for important emails on the go and don’t want to take my laptop with me EVERYWHERE I GO. Does anyone know how to change this?

I see that you're having an issue with your mail on your iPhone still showing unread after reading messages. I certainly understand your concern, and I'd be happy to provide you with some information that can help.

First you'll want to make sure you're using the most recent version (12.1.3) of software on your iPhone. As always, with any update you'll want to make sure you create a backup of your iPhone first. If you're using the current version, does restarting your iPhone resolve this issue?

If the issue remains after trying these steps, the next thing you can try is removing the mail account from your iPhone and adding it back. Then test to see if the issue remains. Hi Brenden,

I've actually tried these steps numerous times before. My phone is always updated. And I posted this question literally right after I restarted my iPhone. It's been a problem for almost a year now.

Hi Eric,

I've tried those steps as well in the past. I completely reset my phone to manufacturing settings months ago as well. And I pushed the home and power button both at the same time before I posted this. I've logged back in and out of iCloud 5 times in total already. I've done a lot

Try a forced restart.

Reset Device

If necessary

Hard reset

Do a backup and try a factory reset.

Restore to Factory setting
