CarPlay Crackling Sound

I’ve been using CarPlay in my brand new Audi RS5 for the past seven months without any issues at all. I’ve been using it on iOS 11 up to the latest 12.1.3.

I started noticing crackling sounds since yesterday out of the blue. As soon as I switch to regular Bluetooth instead of the USB cable, it goes away instantly. I’ve replicated this with two different cables so I know it’s not the cable.

I’ve replicated the issue on Apple Music and podcast app also. If I activate Siri, the crackling goes away right away then comes back randomly maybe 2-3 minutes later.

Replicated on 2 USB ports in the Audi.

I found the culprit causing the issue on my end. It was the "DNS Override" app which has not been updated since 2016. I replicated it with multiple DNS provider options too. It was the app itself causing this problem. Deleted it, problem immediately went away and never came back. Odd.

I have the same problem, and i have dns override installed.

Now i remove the app and tomorrow i'll test apple carplay with my hyundai kona and iphone xs

Hey! I have the exact same issue in my 2017 Hyundai elantra, and it honestly is so disappointing to have an issue that seems to be so common have no known fix. It makes listening to music unbearable, and being unable to utilize maps and listen to music simultaneously is a serious bummer and a HUGE motivator for me to switch to an android phone, as reportedly there are no android auto issues similar.

Bluetooth is fine, but it doesnt provide me with the same functionality as carplay, and i am quite upset at apples complete lack of bugfixing.
