Message "Repair iCloud for windows to use iCloud with Outlookws to use iCloud with Outlook"

I bought a new windows 10 PC with Office and installed iCloud for windows. I got the message "

Repair iCloud for windows to use iCloud with Outlook". I followed the instructions for the repair only to be presented with the same message. Tried rebooting - same message. I haven't managed to find any previous fixes on this subject suggested. iCloud drive seems to be working fine. My previous PC upgraded to windows 10 works fine with all features of iCloud for windows.

Having the same error, during researching I ran across the following:

"We know the problem is caused in part by having the Windows Store version of Office preinstalled and installing the Click to run version from Office.com.

iCloud and most addins will not work with the store version at this time. You need to install the click to run version from Office.com"

Great. Of course I have installed the Microsoft-Store-version of Office since it is finally available and will be enforced by Microsoft in the future.

@Apple: when can we expect iCloud for Windows to work with the Store-version of Outlook?

P.S.: Funny, that the biggest reason for having a Win10-VM running in Fusion on my MacBook Pro is iCloud for Windows, to be able to comfortably manage iCloud-Contacts and the ones from an Exchange account connected to Outlook, since Outlook for Mac isn't able to do that (to show iCloud-contacts or even the folder view present in Outlook for Windows)... o_O

I should have said earlier that I had a web chat with Microsoft support and they suggested the same fix after a bit of to and fro with Apple support. Microsoft seem to have a better understanding of the problem than Apple.

I am trying to remember exactly what I had to do. The version of office I had was preinstalled with a new HP computer. I had to remove that, but precisely which version I installed I cannot be certain, looking through my browsing history I think it was from the Microsoft Office Home.

So what exactly did Microsoft suggest? Did you remove the Store-version from Office and install the old-fashioned download version?
