Transfer Photos from iPod Classic

I have an iPod Classic on which photos exist. And want to transfer the photos to a MacBook Pro. If anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it. If software is needed, please recommend.

The photo app on the MacBook Pro does not recognize the iPod Classic. iTunes recognizes the device but does not allow backup.

Greetings, SCDez.

I see that you own an iPod classic and it has photos stored on it. You'd like to move them to your Mac, and I'm happy to help.

  1. Connect your iPod to your Mac with your USB cable and launch iTunes.
  2. In the upper left corner you should see Music and a small icon of the iPod. Click on the icon and under Options you'll want to put a checkmark next to Enable disk use.
  3. Then launch iPhoto if it doesn't start on its own. Select File > Import to Library, and select your iPod classic under Locations in the left side of the window. Select the photos you wish to import in the subsequent window, and import them.

Take care!

See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - Apple Community. Some of the third party recovery tools listed there can recover images from the device. Note that these will be relatively low resolution copies. If you opted to store original images on the device when you synced the photos to it these should be visible if you put the iPod in disk mode and browse its contents.
