ipassword app crashing

Hi, I have had the ipassword app for 5 years so I have a lot of data stored there. It now won't open and from the reviews and comments I have been reading online, it appears this is now a problem and people are losing their data. The developer is difficult to contact and all attempts have been ignored. I have tried to restore the app but it is no longer in the app store and itunes no longer allows you to see the apps in your itunes account. I, therefore, had to restore the whole iphone, just to try to get one app restored.

A response recently from Apple support just gave a link to a generic 'how to restore' page.

Has this happened to anyone else? Have you been able to restore the app? Why does Apple allow this developer to still sell their products when there is now clearly a fault with it that the developer is ignoring?

I found a solution. I had a back up copy on iCloud and did the following:

  1. delete the iPassword app on your iPhone
  2. go to Apple App Store
  3. Go to search and type in iPassword
  4. download your copy.
  5. Access it with you password
  6. go to settings and go to restore from iCloud
  7. go to settings and turn off Touch ID. I suspect this was the problem as the iPhone X has face recognition.
  8. Your done. This worked for me. Good luck.

I hope is not too late for some of you, I had the same problem today and I was able to fix it, however, you need the backup of your data, What I did was this: First, your iPassword will not longer work, but, there is another app (password manager' -not a mistake the ' sign is part of the name and that is the same but different icon-), you need to have a data backup made in dropbox, itunes or wifi (not icloud!!) you will get the new app in app store, and restore your backup in the new app and problem solved!!, if you have any doubt, please let me know

I had same problem from upgrading to the iPhone X. The app was no longer available but Password was available and appeared to use the same format. After straining my brain, what worked for me was file sharing through iTunes. After being able to share the file I backed that up immediately to iCloud. That appears to be working for time being. This is the icon for the alternate app used that accepted the data file.

I too just upgraded. From a 7+ to XS. When I click on the iPassword, it flashes then just closes. I've backed up the app from the old phone on iCloud, deleted the app on the new phone and then tried to open it again from the app store. Same problem. This is very frustrating, as I have a ton of passwords that I really don't want to re-enter on a new app. Is this app dead?

After posting the above, I read the suggested fix. Followed those instructions, appeared to have worked. The app was restored and downloaded the data. I set the app to open with Face ID. Closed the app, and now it does the same as before. Flashed open then immediately closes. Any fix for that?
