Brand new iPhone XS Max stuck in recovery mode, won't restore or update from iTunes

I brought home a brand new XS Max from AT&T and went to restore it from a backup I just made from my 6S Plus. I entered a password and was told I needed to update the XS in order to continue with the restore, so I did (and it took forever for a 3 gig update). This took a while so I let it be, and I'm not sure what happened but I was now in recovery mode, and when trying to update or restore the phone through iTunes it would try, and would get the the Apple logo with a loading bar under it, but would abruptly stop and go back to recovery mode. I've tried just about everything I've seen online, from updating iTunes, restarting the phone, trying a restore in DFU mode but nothing has yielded any results, just error message 4013. This has now taken up a good part of my day and this isn't how I thought I'd be celebrating a new phone

Are you sure about that, if you really tried everything what did Apple support say when you contacted them about the issue?

If you still need help, try these steps

If you can update, but your device starts up in recovery mode, follow the steps above again. On step 4, choose Restore instead of Update. After the restore completes, you need to set up your device from a backup.

If you continue to see an error during the update:

  1. Check for updates to your Mac or PC. If you restart your computer for an update, check for updates again after you restart.
  2. Try to restore your device using another USB cable.
  3. Try to restore your device on another computer.

If you continue to see error 9, 4005, 4013, or 4014 when you try to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, contact us.
