When I leave my iPhone at home, Find Friends will always report me as being at home. Find iPhone knows where my LTE-connected Watch is. Yes, I am wearing it.
Find Friends should be reporting that I am where my Watch is. Apple knows where I am. Please let my friends know.

If you have a LTE Apple Watch model, you should be able to make your apple watch your location tracking device for find my friends. You can only do this with an LTE model.
open find my friends on your iPhone and click on "me"
Then scroll down until you find "Share my location from" (I have an GPS only Apple Watch, that's why it is not showing on my iPhone) and change it to your apple watch

Yes, it would be nice, if it indeed worked this way. Only, it doesn't. Since you don't have an LTE watch you cannot know that it does not work as you imagine it would. This is how it actually is supposed to work:

The keyword here is "supposed". This has been BROKEN forever.
In my MyFriends-App I am not even offered to choose my watch as the device to be located. Only my iPhone and iPad appear although my watch ist paired with exactly that iPhone.
Seems to be broken eternally.
So do I. I suggest to contact Apple Support and refer them to this post. If there is enough noise about this problem, it may even register in their bug tracker.
It is not supposed to. Find my friends should automatically switch over to the linked Apple Watch.
Good news: Apple has resolved the bug, filed under Case Number 100783680008. Find My Friends is now working as advertised!

Good news: Brad from Apple Support called today, asked for a bunch of numbers and assigned a case ID. Looks like they are finding out about their problem.
