Showing comments in the finder windows

Hello there,

I just discovered that you can add a "Comment' column to the finder window. (columns similar to 'Name', 'Date', 'Kind', etc.) What I don't understand is how to show the information in this column. I thought it would work by infilling text into the 'Comment' field found in the 'Get Info' window.

Any thoughts?

That is exactly how it works.

You do have to close the Get Info window to have the contents of the comments updated in your Finder column.

Let's say you have a Finder window up, and you right-click on one of the column headings and add Comments. This will show comments for a file that you added Get Info comments in the current view. But, if you change directory (e.g. home directory to the Desktop), that new view won't include the Comments column.

While in a Finder List View, press ⌘-J (Show View Options) and you will see a list of attributes under Show Columns:, and you want to select Comments here. Then click the Use as Defaults button. Now, the Comments column will always be present.
