iTunes w/local admin no worky!

This weekend's surprise is that iTunes 12.6.5.3, the special one designed for local app management, appears to be unable to download new apps or updates. New apps, not yet in its local Library though acquired on the iGadgets or acquired on the program itself will not even attempt to download. Updates for apps already in the Library start downloading fine but when download is complete and "processing app" stage begins, an error is thrown and the process aborted:

Tried signing out and back in, downloading and reinstalling iTunes, as well as connecting thru various media and networks, to no avail. So updating the apps centrally for later syncing to the devices is currently impossible. A week ago this worked ok. On MacOS 10.11.6 ElCap.

Earlier this week, the App Store appeared as on the fritz on the devices, as detailed elsewhere. Dunno if this is related.

Any ideas?

WOO HOO! We be back in business!!

71 apps, 8GB worth, happily tricked down the home 20Mbps pipe in a tad over 30 minutes and were safely ensconced in the storage. After which the i8+ was successfully synched, backed up and apps updated. The crisis is averted. For now.

Can only guess the problem was at the server (Apple's) end and has now been fixed). For those wondering what's this "manage your apps" mumbo jumbo, see here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208079
