iPhone photos issues on Mac Photo app

Hi guys,

Something very odd has happened today! I went to sync my iPhone 7 photos to my photos app on my Mac, but the following is happening:

* Most of the new photos are not showing on the photos app on my Mac running El Capitan.

* The videos I recorded on the iPhone 7 (running 12.1.1) are showing as being an "unsupported file" when I Import them.

I've done a restart of both my Mac and iPhone, have checked the box on Mac Photos to show 'open photos for this device'.

I did do a clean setup of the iPhone a couple of weeks ago, so could this be the cause?

It might be that you have an incompatibility issue due to the fact that you are running El Capitan still.

If you are using Apple Photos then El Capitan is not going to be very good at dealing with them.

This is because subsequent versions of OS X was improvements and enhancements in the way that Apple Photos works with your account and devices.

El Capitan days were around the crossover between iPhotos and the Photos App that replaced it.

If you were to move to High Sierra or Mojave you might find that the situation improves.

Worth a try.

Hi mate,

Thanks for your reply. Alas I'm using a 2009 Mac Pro, for which El Capitan is the most I can use.

Also, everything was working fine up until I rest my phone 2 weeks ago. I can see my old photos on the phone but not new ones. I'm totally baffled.

Edit: In fact, I can see a screen shot I took on Friday but cannot see pictures I took yesterday or last week. It's all very odd!
