Apple Intelligence is now available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac!
I have an iPhone XS Max. It is now February of 2019. I cannot remove this message from texts with non-iPhone users. I have done everything that is suggested online, but it still remains. I am up-to-date with my software, operating on iOS 12.1.4.
I do not know what else to do. This is a very expensive phone, yet I have to deal with glitches like this? Unacceptable.

I FIXED IT!!! I found a thread online and followed it step by step. I did restart my iPhone between the steps in Image 1 and Image 2. And then I deleted the thread that was having the problem. But now there is NO MORE line between each reply.
And Apple said it couldn't be fixed.
Here is what I did:
Having to delete an entire message thread is not a viable solution! This is a business conversation and that information is documentation.
Well, I started the OP, and mine was not a business thread. You can always take screenshots of your documentation before deleting it.
No, it's still happening - just started for me for the first time ever last Monday (April 8, 2019).
Which carrier are you using and have you checked with them.

This worked for me: deleting the text chain with the problem, and re-text to that non-iMessage user.
It sucks to lose previous texts and pics/video... but at least the annoying message went away...
My wife blocks me when I puss her off, I was also wounding if she had a second sim and a second number.
I have to say THANK YOU for posting the step-by-step fix. It has been driving me absolutely bonkers seeing that 'Number Changed to Primary' pop up in every single text I send, iPhone or Droid!
