Random badge notifications appearing after app updates

This has nothing to do with using an iPhone and everything to do with a glitch with iOS for iPhone, but hey, why would Apple admit there is an issue with their OS's? Get better topics, or allow us to actually enter our own. Anyway......

Anyone else getting random false-positive(?) badge notifications appearing on apps after they update? Sometimes, I just open the app and it fixes it. Currently, my Google Calendar app has a badge notification that will not go away, but there is NOTHING in the app indicating an actual need for a notification. This has been going on for about a month or so. Is this a glitch in iOS 12.1.2?

Hello gman91478,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I understand you're seeing badge notifications that don't appear to correspond to any notifications in the app.

Regarding the Google Calendar app, try tapping Settings > Notifications, and then look for and tap that specific app. Then, switch "Badges" off and on and check to see if this helps. If it doesn't go back to the same Settings > Notifications page for the app and switch off "Allow Notifications."

If this doesn't clear things up, updating to iOS 12.1.4 would be a great next step and might resolve the issue for you: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch and Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

I hope this helps get you started.

Take care.
