iPad will not connect to airport express

Other household devices (iPads, iPhones) can connect no problem....my iPad which is newish (2018) running iOS 12.x does show the airport express as an option when playing music.....seems to connect for a moment when selected (checkmark appears as if it’s connected) and then music stops and checkmark reverts back to iPad. Sometimes it will eventually connect after about 8 or 10 tries.

Regardless of the "excellent" connection, 7.8 has been known to have streaming issues with AirPlay. We see numerous posts here and the only known "solution" is to downgrade the firmware to the earlier version.

No body has answered so I guess we are all mystified as you are..


What model is the express? Are you using 7.8 firmware if it is Gen2?

If so 7.8 is notorious for issues.. you need to downgrade it back to 7.6.9 or earlier.


If that is not the issue. And since the other devices in the network are working fine.. this must be related to your new iOS version. I would post in area dealing with iOS issues and airplay.


If you want help you probably need to give more details.. how is the Express configured in the network?

Would it be possible to directly connect the ipad to the express wireless.. so you can determine it is not a general network issue?
