Flash Drives for iPad Pro 2017

My mother recently purchased a flash drive for her iPad Pro to have as an extra back up for her photos and videos. When she went to plug it into her iPad Pro, it did not recognize the device. I then plugged it into my iMac to see how it was formatted… it was formatted as ExFat, its formatted this way because it is over a 4GB drive… 128 to be exact. When scanning the QR code on the package it then prompted to download Y-Disk app onto the iPad. Once that was downloaded it still did not recognize the device.

I also tried to reformat the drive in 2 formats… Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and back to ExFAT.

I included a few pictures of the device…

I am not sure what else I can do to get it to be recognized by the iPad Pro… I am currently running the latest iOS on the iPad… any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The drive is accessed directly and exclusively by its own app. The ipad will not show the drive anywhere else.

Open the Y-disk app on the ipad and look for it there.

Where are you from?

This drive and app looks to be a dud.

On the U.S. App Store the description is all in Asian with a lot of negative reviews.

If you can, return this drive and look at these drives for iOS instead.

There are a few special storage devices for mobile devices. There are portable, bulit-in WiFi hotspot hard drives for mobile devices made by Western Digital and Seagate.

You need to install and use the mobile device maker’s iOS App, in this entire list, to take advantage of all these mobile storage drive features.

When I open the Y-Disk app it keeps asking to connect the USB device. Have restarted the iPad and launched the app and then plugged the drive in and nothing. I would have thought there would be a work around… I know in the past if you formatted a flash drive as FAT32 and put a folder in the flash drive called DCIM… the drive would mount and you could see what is on the flash drive. I know you have to have these Flash drives formatted as ExFAT in the event the files exceed 4GB such as a movie file like HD.
