dhcp no ip after sleep

After sleep it takes minutes to get an IP address. This happened after upgrade to Mojave. All the solutions on the internet work only temporary.

Dear all,

Well you will not believe it but it was a small gigabit switch that caused the problem. I found it when googling my problem and one person mentioned some switches are not compatible with W2008 server DHCP protocol. I bypassed that switch and voila problem solved. Very tricky that such a small switch can frustrate a complete network of Windows and Apple computers, Servers, laptops, Wifi routers and so on. Curious is also that Iphones and other mobile phones were not affected! So I must make my humble excuses to Apple for accusing them of bad behaviour of Mojave on this matter. Hope other people will benefit from this experience. Thanks for the replies.

Hi johnhbfromweligama,

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today. It sounds like you're having an internet issue after you Mac wakes from sleep.

Has this issue occurred on multiple networks?

I can also advise trying an SMC reset: How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac

Also try running Wireless Diagnostics. Check out this article for instructions: Check for Wi-Fi issues using your Mac.

If that doesn't help, you can see if the same issue occurs inside a new test user account. This can isolate the issue to your user account or system-wide: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac

I hope that helps.

Have a fantastic day!

Thanks for the reply. But as all other tricks also this only works temporarily. After one day or so the problem is back. It takes sometimes 3-5 minutes to get an IP address. This is really a nasty bug in Mojave and has to be fixed soon/immediately.

But how to convince Apple to do that ? Really want to revert to High Sierra which was without problems for me. But I do not know how to do that without too much damage.
