User Account Missing on Restart

I have a MacBook Pro with macOS Mojave (although I believe I had the same issue when it as Sierra) and there is something weird happening with my user accounts.

I have created my wife an account that I have given admin rights. At some point my son created an account (which I don't even know how...) which I have since set to managed....but the issue is when my computer is restarted and it is time to login, only mine/my son's accounts appear. My wife's account is MIA from the login screen. If I login to either account and switch user or log out, my wife's account is then available.

One thing I found on google that I thought would fix it was FileVaut, which I opened and gave my wife's account access to unlock the HD, but upon restarting her account is still MIA.

Thanks for coming to Apple Support Communities for help today. It sounds like there is a user account belonging to your wife that doesn't appear on your Mac when logging in.

When you shut down the computer, do you log out of her account?

Are you seeing her account in System Preferences > Users & Groups? Check out: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac and then scroll to the steps under "Customize the login experience". Try choosing "Automatic Login" for her user. Boot up and see if it boots to her user. Then, remove "Automatic Login" for her account and try booting up again.

If that doesn't work, try starting in safe mode to see if it appears. Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac.

Booting into Recovery and performing a repair in Disk utility may also be helpful: Repair a disk using Disk Utility on Mac.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, contact Apple Support.
