Read receipts

When texting my girlfriend who has a 6s plus and I have a Xs Max the read receipts don’t pop up until hours later after she read it or when I send another text . Any help that can fix this?

Read receipt... Why does it show my girlfriend that I have read her text when I have "read receipt" turned OFF on my iPhone 6s running the most current ios to date? I text a friend and asked him if it showed him when I read his text and he said that it only said delivered... so this is only happening in my conversation with my girlfriend? This is very odd.

Showing read receipts randomly My read receipts are ALWAYS turned off in settings but every once in a while - it sends read receipts to people. Today for example, all morning it did not show messages as "Read" to my friend and all of a sudden - without doing ANYTHING it started showing her when i read her messages..... help?

Have her do a forced restart on her iPhone.
