using floppy disk drive
Have an old floppy disk and drive. Try to retrieve docs from disk. IOS unable to identify disk drive and cannot read the info inside it. What driver do I need to download? Is there a way to enable the drive?

If it is a compatible, 3.5 inch, 1.44. MB floppy disk drive, then no drivers are required. Simply connecting the drive to your Mac will not make it appear on your Desktop. When you insert a 1.44 MB floppy, and only if it is readable, will it then mount the floppy image on your Desktop. I can still read floppies from project work done in 1997 on Mojave 10.14.3.

A 720K disk may not be readable now. Try inserting and ejecting the disk multiple times before you give up. And there is always the possibility that over time, the disk has bit rot, and won't be readable.
When I inserted the disk, the operational light on the drive did light up and the sound of rotation begin. Maybe the disk is unreadable. Nonetheless, thank you very much for the prompt response. Wishing you a great weekend.
What drive and how is the disk formatted?
What does the floppy disk drive's documentation have to offer.
