using floppy disk drive

Have an old floppy disk and drive. Try to retrieve docs from disk. IOS unable to identify disk drive and cannot read the info inside it. What driver do I need to download? Is there a way to enable the drive?

If it is a compatible, 3.5 inch, 1.44. MB floppy disk drive, then no drivers are required. Simply connecting the drive to your Mac will not make it appear on your Desktop. When you insert a 1.44 MB floppy, and only if it is readable, will it then mount the floppy image on your Desktop. I can still read floppies from project work done in 1997 on Mojave 10.14.3.
