software update will not display for macbook pro

software will not display newer version to download..only on 10.5.. i need to upgrade to 10.11 or higher but nothing shows up on updates

OS upgrades do not show in software updates. What year MacBook Pro do you have? What OS version are you using now? You posted 10.5. If you are running 10.5, you need to upgrade to Snow Leopard before you can upgrade any further.

After Snow Leopard, you will need to install El Capitan before you can upgrade any further.

Check to make sure your applications are compatible. PowerPC applications are no longer supported after 10.6.

Also check to make sure there is a compatible driver for your printer.




Do a backup before installing, preferable 2 backups on 2 different drives.
