Issues with iTunes/Synology/Playlists

Hi Everyone

I moved my entire iTunes folder/library to my NAS (Synology RS818+). I can play any song and it works fine. I have several ways to access the content - using Airplay on my phone, my home automation system, etc. They all work - only issue is none of these devices will see my playlists.

On my desktop Mac I see my playlists and they work. But when I interact with itunes off my home automation system or my iphone or another device I do not see the playlists.

What am I missing?

Each .itl file is an independent database with its own collection of playlists. If the .itl file on the NAS doesn't contain any playlists then you may need to export and import them. Is the library on your computer connected to its own set of media files, or is it accessing those on the NAS.

Please note that initially I posted that link for reference, not as recipe to be followed. That said your screenshot does reveal that your library is in an outdated layout that you might want to fix up, although ideally not without making a backup copy on another drive first. NAS can be unforgiving if something goes wrong.

Doesnt seem to be working - my entire file structure is the same on the NAS (image below)

When I am in iTunes if I pick "my computer" library I see my playlists. if I pick "NAS Server" I do not see the playlists just 3 random playlists that I cannot even delete. When I right click my only option is "get info" and nothing happens. But if I am in the "NAS Server" library on iTunes and I pick any song, I can add it to those playlists that I want to find that I can find in "My computer". Is that helpful?
