This is driving me nuts! Every time I want to get new photos from my Nikon onto my Mac it wants to do them all. I tick the camera and it says NO Photos. If I tick Import it goes to one of my files of photos and starts downloading every photo in that file.
Different with my iPhone, it works OK.

Thank you for posting in the Apple Support Communities. If I understand your post, you're being prompted to import all photos from your camera rather than being able to select specific photos; is this correct?
While it's possible the import process might be different on a camera compared to your iPhone, it's worth trying to import using the Image Capture app as a test to see how this works. Check out the steps here: Transfer images in Image Capture on Mac

Are you importing directly from the camera? The camera may be in the wrong mode for importing from the camera. If you have a card reader, try, if you can import better, if the card is in the card reader.
