Dropped my phone in salt water, it works but worried about corrosion

I dropped my phone in the ocean for about 10 seconds yesterday. It was in a case and had a screen protector on but still got some water in the headphone jack, ring switch ect

It worked perfectly fine except my ringer switch no longer worked and the phone was stuck in headphones mode. I couldn’t hear anything unless I put headphones in and I couldn’t hear people when I called them.

Everything started working again before I went to bed. Phone works as it normally would including the sound, ringer switch ect.

However, I can still see some salt in the headphone jack.

I called my phone insurance company and the lady told me the salt would evaporate and that when the phone stopped working I could pay a deductible and get a replacement. I’m not even going to get into that crazy conversation, but obviously the salt isn’t going to evaporate and my phone isn’t ok because the water was drained from it which is what she tried to tell me. I was flabbergasted by it all.

What can I do? I don’t know how to take my phone apart (iPhone 6s plus) and I don’t know of any place around here that would be able to remove the salt. I could really use some help. The phone works fine for now but I’m worried about having issues later due to the salt.

Salt does not evaporate. Not at temperatures you are likely to survive, at any rate. Water evaporates, and leaves behind the salt that was dissolved in it...

But it sounds like you're intelligent enough to have figured that out already.

That said, aside from waiting until something goes wrong, there's really nothing you can do. Do NOT attempt to disassemble the phone.

Back it up on a regular basis to protect your data. Be careful when leaving it to charge unattended, and consider upgrading to a new phone sooner rather than later if your finances allow for it.
