Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT

Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Safari not viewing Websites properly

I've been using Safari on my iMac since I bought it. I haven't changed any settings and know not to allow any add ons other than Apple's own updates.

I have checked and other users have a similar problem but no one seems to answer.

It first started about 4 months ago specifically with the website "HotUKdeals" the website would only half load up and stop with no pictures and only half the words. The kind of thing like when a server is busy and can't complete the package transfer.

About a month later another site had a problem when the hyperlinks where misaligned on the website,

As if Java is out of date or similar again to a busy server sending whatever data can go through and the website will form like a mosaic or building block as the encapsulated data packages build the website slowly.

Just now YouTube as stopped loading in a similar vein where the background and greyed boxes have formed where the video thumbnails will be but then stops like the server is busy and timed out.

All of these problems and websites are fine as I have since downloaded Google chrome as a separate browser and they all work immediately and without any problems.

I have already tried the trouble shooting as well as checking tech websites and youtube tech head video.

Do you ever clear your Safari browser history and cookies? Occasionally, that can cause symptoms that you describe.

Try the following:

  1. Quit Safari, and then relaunch it while holding the shift key down.
  2. Safari menu : Clear History… : all history : Click Clear History button.
    1. In Safari 12, this clears your history, and all cookies
  3. Safari Preferences : Advanced : √ Show develop menu in menu bar, and close Preferences.
  4. Press option + command + E to clear the browser cache
  5. Quit Safari

Before relaunching Safari normally, download and install the free Malwarebytes for Mac, and let it sweep for any malware that may have found its way into your Mac. If any is found, it will alert you and offer to remove it. You can then continue to use Malwarebytes without the optional real-time protection after the initial 30 day trial. Many of us recommend, and use Malwarebytes ourselves. Do not install any anti-virus products, or so-called Mac "cleaner" applications though.

Now, relaunch Safari and see if the sites that you mentioned are accessible as you expect.

VikingOSX. Thanks, I did all that and Youtube looks back to normal. It detected and deleted 3 Threats classed as malware.

The same problem with The other site is the same. So I replied to you first as although the action for either solution is the same work. I was reluctant to put my info on the site until I'd tried your's.

So thanks again as it's helped so far. No will continue with dominic's answer.

Thanks Viking.

HI Dominic. The report as requested. Just to explain the "Major probs" I don't use Time Machine I use external HDD.

And my Mac is for music and The constantly updating OS stops me from being able to use half my Plugins for 3-6 months after and update and an older one is permanently unusable if I upgrade.

Thanks in advance.

So if you read my previous posts and are wondering there's a part missing..... Here you go

I would uninstall Bitdefender. It tends to interfere with the computer's operation while providing minimal to no benefit unless you work with Windows files. Most long time posters recommend not using antivirus software or cleaning software such as CleanMyMac. They can adversely affect normal computer operation.
