ipod nano 3rd generation battery life

after i plug in my ipod nano 3g for full charge it charges. then i unplug it and scroll around it dies within 20 to 30 seconds why? i can't i use it unless i plug it in and use it. or i can listen to music if i lock it with bottom switch and then unplug it but if i unlock itwithout it on the charger it drains within seconds again and powers off.

iPod touch battery dying super quickly So my iPod touch (5th generation) has been having battery problems. It's been like this since I bought it. The battery is so bad: I only get like 2-3 hours out of it, if I'm lucky. The battery in my 2nd gen iPod touch, yes, the 2nd generation iPod touch, released in 2008, is actually better than the one in my 5th gen! How can this be? Is this a problem with my iPod in particular or is it an issue with all iPods of this type? Just wondering since this is a super weird issue.
