Help! Time lapse loading forever

I have taken time lapses a few times on my iPhone XR and so far the time lapse has been stuck on loading after I have completed the time lapse. This has happened twice now out of the few times I have used it.

Now I cannot trust the time lapse feature as I lose all the footage because it can’t be used. Is there a fix for this?

Hi! I know this is from some time ago, but I also had this issue. After trying a few different things, I realized it only happened to me if my live photos was turned on. Make sure to turn off live photos and then swipe to time lapse, and as far as I know the ones filmed that aren't loading won't ever load :(

iPhone XR 64GB, 7GB available, iCloud OFF, IOS 13.5.1

I've taken many time lapses, but my last one hung up "LOADING" and it wasn't my longest time lapse by far.

I tried using iMazing which is an excellent utility. It easily copied off all my time lapses except the bad one.

iMazing knows the thumbnail and shows it, but says filesize is zero. The error message from iMazing is "The photo "IMG_0641.MOV" cannot be transferred because it is stored on iCloud and not on your device."

This is bogus, because iCloud is turned off. I did go to iCloud and check if somehow it was transferring, but my iCloud account is completely empty.

Just wanted to share all of this with you. Obviously something is wrong and I'd like to have it fixed.

Hi!

Thanks for replying.

For the timelapse getting stuck, it seems to happen randomly. Most of the time when I use the time lapse function is hit record, then after I’m done I hit stop. Then I go to photos and the time lapse will load (compile) and a time lapse is created. However a few times the time lapse just got stuck loading and nothing can be done, see the image below for reference.

The timelapse seems to be stuck in this state.

Yes I am using iCloud photos.

Having trust issues with the time lapse function now, would be great if there’s a solution!

Thanks!

Exactly the same happened too me!

I did one too on my iPhone XR today! It was of me painting the doors of a metal container, and it was roughly 1hour 30minutes of film, then i stopped it and waited for it to process for at least 30minutes, and after 3hours it still wasn’t done so I gave up and deleted it! Very disappointed.

Needs fixing as it is definitely a bug!

i have this issue as well, i got my XR in December 2018 and i took a long timelapse that was about maybe 20 minutes and it converted to a video just fine! but ever since updating to 12.1 and up i am never able to create timelapse anymore without it continuly “loading” ive had my phone open for up to almost an hour letting it load and it never loaded!!! i also have an XR with 256GB but, it used to work just fine before i updated my phone, hoping the 13IOS update fixes this because its HIGHLY frustrating and disappointing because all the footage is lost! this has happened many more times but ive deleted them, i tried again today in hopes that it might be fixed but it still is unresolved.

Same issue, iPhone XR, 128BG, iOS 13.1.3, and NOT using iCloud Photos (but plenty of on-phone storage available). Started happening to me in the last week or two, random but more frequent on footage filming longer than 8 minutes.

I'm loathe to reset to factory just to see if it will work, because I've got corporate profile management stuff set up on it, and that's a lot of downtime to sustain.

It's not just the XR. I've got the 11Pro Max running the latest iOS 13 and I'm having this issue. I'm not on beta. Only recorded for about 10 minutes. Hopefully you don't consider that a "long" recording. This was my first time lapse with this phone, and was on a client studio build. Now I have zero footage of the work I did. Very disappointed. Especially when spending $1600 on a freaking phone.

Happening on my iPhone 11 Pro Max on iOS 13.2.2. I actually accidentally took a time lapse instead of regular video and it’s stuck loading. But when I delete it and actually fully delete it from trash it shows back up in photos again like a day or two later and still won’t load. I really don’t want to have to reset me whole phone just to delete a stupid video I took by mistake...

This is terrible. Anytime I take time lapses of more than 2 or 3 minutes which equals probably a few seconds of actual footage the loop of death appears and I’ve essentially lost that recording.

im going to try and download a time lapse app instead since I’ve lost trust.

this is my 3 time lapse lost over the last 4 months through various OS updates.
